Train Simulator: BR 9F Loco Add-On Download Computer

Updated: Mar 22, 2020

About This Content Considered by some to be the pinnacle of British steam locomotive design, the Class 9F comes to Train Simulator in British Railways black livery. The Standard Class 2-10-0 locomotive was designed by Robert Riddles for BR and was the last in a series of standardised locomotive classes designed in the 1950s. The Class was originally intended for use on heavy freight trains at fast speeds over long distances; however, it proved extremely capable and versatile, being used on passenger services as well.In total, 251 locomotives were built in the Class, and 92220 Evening Star was the last steam locomotive to be built by BR in 1960.Withdrawals of the Class began in May 1964, although some survived until the end of British steam in 1968. Nine locomotives in the Class survived the scrapyard, with Evening Star now being part of the National Collection in the UK and others either in full working order or in restoration. The 9F for Train Simulator is a former Iron Horse House model, which has been updated to TS2015 standard, including new scenarios and improved exterior modelling. It is available in BR Black livery in both single and double chimney variants with BR1A and BR1D tenders. Also included are 16T mineral wagons and a BR brake van.The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the BR 9F on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Western Lines of Scotland route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosThree scenarios for the Western Lines of Scotland route:Border HeavyweightHeavy Haul to KingmoorMilitary MarchMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. There are a few little things that are off about the dlc. First is that the engine looks too dark, it appears pure black from all angles in the daylight. It's kind of hard to see stuff in the cab for the same reason. All in all its fun and it's woth the money if it's something you want.. All I can say is, I've driven better. It's nice if you wanted it just to add to a collection, but the whistle is rubbish and it just had generic chuffing sounds.Buy it if you want to complete some steam collection, but if you are a bit more serious, then don't. THERE IS NO WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS ADDON IT IS SO BAD THAT I CANT EVER CALL IT BAD STAY AWAY FROM IT IF U DONT WANT TO WAST YOUR MONEY IF YOU WANT SOMETHING BRILIENT FOR YOUR MONEY THEN BUY THE 14XX ADDIN PACK IT REALLY IS YOUR MONEYS WOURTH THE RESON IT WAS BAD IS BECAUSE IT HAS 2 MISSING TEXTURES ON THE WATER SITE GLASS AND HAS THE BLACK 5 DEFALT SOUNDS AND WHISTLE.. I do not reccomend the loco in it's current state, but read on for more information.DTG have taken an IHH model and have done... something... to it. I imagine a quick texture upgrade to make it compatible with the latest version of TS, but other than that it's a mystery to me. I wish DTG would've done better justice to the last steam loco built by BR. PROS:-Good looking, supposedly modernised model, something DTG is getting good at.-Inclusion of a single and double-chimney version, with BR1A and BR1D tenders. 16T mineral wagons and a brake van are also included.-Fun scenarios. I acutally enjoyed a little challenge in them.CONS:-Bad sounds. As usual, DTG fall short of making a two-cylinder, double chinmey beheamoth sound daunting. At high speeds it sounds like a diesel engine running out of fuel, oil, and coolant, all at the same time. Exactly like the European Asset Black 5... Oh wait....-In-cab features need work. The ejector knobs have been modelled, but not animated and used. They just sit there in front of your face in the cab with no purpose other than to look interesting and unimportant. -I can't change the headcode from Fast Freight, whish isn't all bad I suppose, considering that's what the 9F was built for. But when I'm pulling a railtour with Evening Star, I want an Express headcode up front. -Reliance on 3rds parties to fix otherwise correctable issues. there, I said it.SSS have a great sound pack that adds seperate sounds to both the single and double-chimey versions, along with some cool smoke particle effects and a new "dynamic" trillable whistle to replace the standard, repeating, shrieking mess. Steam chest simulation and accurate brakes, among other things are also included. If you're gonna get this mammoth, don't bother unless you intend to get the SSS pack alongside it. This is DTG's way to make a quick pound (or dollar, in my case) with a second-hand model, with no real attention paid to the contents they spewed forth. Rescued from perdition by SSS, it's a great model for the extra money of a 3rd party enhancement. Overall 65%, with SSS pack 80%. DO NOT BUY! very bad model, sound are rubbish. Should be given awa for free, or they should give us money to take the bloody thing. and NO Evening Star!. The add on is OK but they have not included any coaches with the 9f so you have to add coaches to the locomotive and secondly they have not included the last 9f 92220 Evening Star which I Believe was asked for by the players.Apart from that it is Ok.. This add-on is nowhere as bad as other peoples seems to imply. It is however grossly overpriced, like all DT DLCs. Grab it when on sale at 50% and you shouldn't be disappointed. It requires some skill to drive properly, as the engine has a tendency to wheel-slip more easily than other engines, when the reverser is not handled with enough care. Some are complaining that its difficult to keep pressure in the boiler at higher speeds, but again, careful use of the regulator and reverser is needed.I hesitated to buy this add-on as it has received mostly negative reviews, but I don't regret my purchase. As long as you're aware that this is an old DLC, with an old reused sound set, and lacks all the features of a more recent and more advanced one, and as long as you buy it at reduced price, you should find it to be OK.. While yes, this engine is far from the greatest thing on the market, it has a great deal of potential as a machine. There are some enhancement packs out there that produce an even better machine, which in of itself is enough reason to buy.
